Issues: Education

Sean believes that the only way for Mississippi to prosper in the future is to provide a superior education for our children. While we are fortunate on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to have some of the best school districts in the state, our state's education system continues to rank among the lowest in the country. Furthermore, our state has one of the highest dropout rates in the nation. Sean believes we must do two things to address these issues. First, Sean believes that students should be given the option to attend school for the full calendar year. Traditionally, summer schools have been utilized to help kids who have fallen behind. Sean believes that our attention should be focused on giving our best and brightest children the opportunity to get ahead by giving them additional time in the classroom. Second, for those students who are not planning on attending college, our high schools should provide better access to vocational training.

Sean believes we must properly fund our education system. Sean would support legislation that financially rewards higher performing districts, administrators and teachers.

Sean is the only candidate for State Senate District 49 to complete "The Parents' Campaign" candidate questionnaire. You can veiw his answers here The Parents' Campaign
